Behold the glory of SHARKTOPUS.
Roger Corman has produced nearly 400 films in his 50+ year career including such B-movie classics as ROCK N’ ROLL HIGH SCHOOL with the Ramones, DEATH RACE 2000 and GRAND THEFT AUTO.
He’s credited with providing the first big career breaks for Francis Ford Coppola, Jack Nicholson, Joe Dante, Sylvester Stallone, Ron Howard, Paul Bartel, Robert DeNiro, Curtis Hanson, John Sayles, Dennis Hopper, James Cameron, Johnathan Demme… Am I forgetting anyone? Oh yeah, Martin Scorsese. That’s right, ol’ Marty once called this guy, SIR.
He has directed over 50 films of his own including LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, VON RICHTHOFEN AND BROWN, BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS and the woefully underrated FRANKENSTEIN UNBOUND.
And now, Roger Corman is getting set to bring us SHARKTOPUS, courtesy of Syfy.
I can’t say SHARKTOPUS enough. SHARKTOPUS. SHARKTOPUS. Possibly the greatest title in the history of film. SHARKTOPUS. You already know what this movie is going to be about.

Spent half am hour discussing what a sharktopus should look like, how many mouths it should have and how it should kill. That’s my job! 11:42 AM Feb 10th from web
Just got off the phone with the legendary Roger Corman who’s doing a new movie for us this year. Yes, it’s the long-rumored SHARKTOPUS! 11:41 AM Feb 10th from web
How cool would it be to sit in on that conversation?
Corman has always served as an inspiration to me in the way that he produces films for very little money. He gets the most out of his microscopic budgets, sometimes with spectacular results. So in my career, when producing or PM’ing a film and it looks like money might get a little tight, I often ask myself… “What would Roger Corman do?” How do I get the most out of what I’ve got to work with?
God bless Roger Corman.
No air date, or even production date yet. So in the meantime, I invite everyone to run wild with idle speculation and scuttlebutt.
