New Trailer For KICK-ASS

by John D. Estes on January 12, 2010

Looking forward to this.

I read the comic and thought “Wow, this would make a pretty good movie.” Apparently, I wasn’t the only one.

Matthew (Layer Cake) Vaughn directs the adaptation of the comic book by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.

Interesting to note… word is that this film is self-finanaced through Vaughn’s MARV Films. Yeah, DIY. Can you believe it? This kind of movie is normally the domain of studios and guys named Lucas. Haha. I wish MARV great success and hope they make a ton of money off of this. It can only help the rest of us. Meanwhile, enjoy the trailer.

Links to the other two trailers, including the NSFW red band, after the jump.

Here is the original teaser

And here is the infamous Hit-Girl Red Band trailer.  NSFW.

So what do you think?

Know of other self-financed features in the $30M+ budget range? How about ones that are potential blockbusters? If Kick-Ass does well, it could be a sea change in the independent industry. Agree? Disagree? Think I’m being stupid?
